Midnight Eating, Guilty or not ?

Midnight Eating is Guilt-free

Each country has its own unique culture, its own food, and also its own myths. However, no matter where you are on earth there’s one common myth among all humans that is “Eating after 8.pm will make you gain weight “. They even go loco upon hearing that you ate the cake leftovers at midnight. They impose the feeling of guilt in you, and the urge to punish yourself by working out for hours for the next morning especially if you’re undertaking the weight-loss Journey. You Might be surprised to hear this, but you don’t need to feel guilty whether you eat at 5 p.m. or at 12 a.m., A calorie is still a calorie, and your metabolism is still the same.

You sure have heard that what you eat after 8 p.m. will get stored as fat, hence making you those extra pounds, with the infamous evidence about this matter that “Your metabolism shuts down”. Well scientifically proven there’s no such thing as Metabolism shutting down at night. How would your body even now if it’s midnight?

Then why do we gain weight?

It gets simply down to Calories-in Vs. Calories-out. What you eat during the day and what your body uses to keep it going. We usually eat our calories by dinner time. If we exceed our Break-even calories that’s needed for maintaining your weight, obviously we would put on extra weight. If you didn’t consume all your calories by 8 or even midnight, you would eat and still maintain your weight. That’s simply it.

Still we sometimes can’t help but to overindulge, so here are some tips that might help.

  • Eat a Balanced meal for dinner with large portions of protein and fibers to keep you full for long.
  • Have a light-snack to keep you from overeating an apple or yoghurt will do.
  • Drink a cup of green tea.
  • Drink lots of water, after all you might be just dehydrated.
  • Brush your teeth after dinner can do the trick of keeping you away from food.
  • Make sure to sleep early and for 8 hours, as sleep deprivation can mess with your eating behavior.
